The early sixties saw the loss of a number of
key players, and the band responded by appointing John Askew as
Bandmaster. He gradually built the band back up and also set the
band back on a busy course of engagements. Like his father, he
accompanied the band on various trips to places such as:
Archway and Hoxton in London. Whittlesy, Ware, Wales and made a
visit to Woubrugge in Holland in 1990.
